Slow Cooker Brown Butter Marinara Sauce

This Brown Butter Marinara Sauce in the Slow Cooker is thick, tasty, and very simple to make. When you brown the butter, it gives the sauce a nutty depth of flavor that goes well with pasta or any other Italian dish.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 2 cans 28 ounces each crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until it turns golden brown, about 5-7 minutes

Transfer the brown butter to the slow cooker

Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, minced garlic, oregano, basil, thyme, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to the slow cooker

Stir well to combine all ingredients

Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally

Before serving, stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and fully incorporated

Serve over pasta or use as a sauce for your favorite Italian dishes

Enjoy!
